There's Some Catching Up To Do

I have not posted in a while, and there have been some pretty big headline stories to talk about in the past 4 months. First of all, the Democrats reach the almightly super majority number of 60 senators. This happened because of Arlen Spector fleeing like a rat from a sinking ship - the republican party - and announcing that he was joining the Democratic caucus, and then was followed by former comedian Al Franken finally becoming the new senator from Minnesota with a narrow victory of 5 to 0. (I'm not kidding.) This will allow President Obama to steam roll his domestic agenda's on healthcare reform, renewable energy, and many other important issues that have been on the back burner for the past eight years.

Healthcare. The healthcare crisis in this country sickens me. That in the United States of America, people have to file bankrupcy just because of an illness is unbelieveable to me. I just cannot comprehend why, in the richest nation on earth, does healthcare have to cost sooooooo much? If anyone can answer that question please email me at leftwingliberalshow@gmail.com. However, what sickens me more is that the Republicans in congress want to try and stop this from happening. how they can sit there and say that they believe in tax breaks, and lowering financial burdens on Amercians by lowering their taxes, but then let the cost of healthcare spiral out of control? I don't get it. Wouldn't that kind of be a tax in some way? And not to mention the 48 million Amercians that have no healthcare, and that number is only surely bigger since we entered this recession, that have to go to Emergency rooms, and in turn be a burden on the healthcare system. Well pretty soon, if something is not done, the pressure on this system is surely to make it explode.
This is why I have complete confidence in a public option, and not just the restricted one in the current debates. I believe there should only be a public option, the free market system and healthcare do not go together. When it comes to healthcare the free market system has failed us. The federal government can bail out auto companies, and take an ownership stake in these companies, why can't that same concept be used in repesct to the entire healthcare industry? Insurance companies continue to raise costs, saying that their costs are going up. Well does that not sound like an unsustainable future? Is that not why we bailed out GM, and AIG? If these greedy companies are on such a path of doom, why doesn't the Federal Government bail them out as well, take the ownership stake, fund them with tax dollars instead of premiums, and then give every tax payer in this country comprehensive coverage and finally put the free market healcare system out of it's misery?

Also, Sarah Palin, the governer of Alaska, resigned on July 3, 2009, effective July 26, 2009, which happens to be my late grandfathers birthday, and I bet he could not have though of a better present. Although she first stated that her reasons were not wanting to be a "lame duck" because she already decided not to run for re-election, and other personal issues, it has soon been discovered that Mrs. Palin was not handling the stress very well. Friends have stated that she has lost a noticable amount of weight and her hair has thinned. Now, let me get this strait, Palin could not handle the stress of being the governer of Alaska, but some how she thought she could have handled the stresses of being the Vice President? Can anyone say, bullet dodged?

Thank You. God Bless America.
