Today the Senate Health Committee took the first step toward a brighter future for Amercians, they voted to approve legislation that would expand health coverage to all Amercians. This is the first step on Obama's plan to make sure that the nearly 50 million people in the United States can have affordable, comprhensive medical insurance and stop the ever ballooning costs of healthcare.
Also, Tuesday the house Democratic leadership pledged to tackle the healthcare issue before the August recess, which meets President Obama's request. The house Democrats also offered a $1.5 trillion bill that would make healtchare a "right and a responsibility" for every United States citizen. In the bill, the tab was to be picked up by medical providers, employers, and the wealthy.
Republican Healthcare Fiasco
This morning on Morning Joe, a republican congressman was on the show stumping the Repubo plan for healthcare reform. And let me tell you that there is no possible way that Amercians are going to buy this! Instead of just giving people healthcare, the Repubo's want to give Americans a $2,500 to $5,000 tax incintive to pay for insurance. First of all, the Americans that file medical bankrupcy are not filing over $2,500 to $5,000, they are filing for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and there are some people that the $2,500 would not even cover the costs of deductables.
When will Republicans learn that they can not tax break themselves out of everything! The free market healthcare system has failed us, it is time for the federal government to just give us our god given right of health!
